Namecheap charges $89.98 a year for the years paid at registration, then $114.98 a year to renew. Registering for 2 years and renewing after that costs $1,099.80 over 10 years, against $800.00 at Cloudflare.
Transfers cost two years
A .ai transfer renews the domain for two years and bills both, from $160.00 at Cloudflare to $274.00 at Route 53. Both years are added to the current expiration date, so moving a domain when it is due for renewal costs nothing extra.
Prices went up in 2026
DomainNameWire and DomainIncite reported the wholesale price rising from $70.00 to $80.00 a year on March 5, 2026, after .ai passed one million registrations. Route 53 also raised its .ai price from $129.00 to $137.00. Renewing for several years at once locks in the current price for those years.
