Before You Buy a .co Domain
Compare the renewal, not the first year
3 of the 5 registrars discount the first year, then charge twice as much or more. Dynadot charges $15.50 for the first year and $31.20 after that. Over 5 years a .co costs $140.30 at Dynadot and $190.00 at Route 53.
5 years is the longest term
The .co registry caps registrations at 5 years, and a renewal cannot push the expiration date more than 5 years ahead. Unlike .com, you cannot lock in 10 years of today's price.
Transfers add a year
Moving a .co costs from $30.00 at Cloudflare, and the registry adds a year to the current expiration date. A domain cannot move within 60 days of its registration or of a previous transfer.
Premium names cost more every year
Some .co names are registry premiums, priced in tiers from $30 to $10,000 a year. Unlike most promos, a premium price applies to every renewal and transfer too, so check the renewal price before buying a short or dictionary-word name.

.co Domain Price FAQ
Common questions about what a .co domain costs
Colombia. .co is its country code, overseen by Colombia's Ministry of ICT, and since October 2025 the registry has been run by CentralNic, part of Team Internet. Anyone can register a .co: there is no residency or nationality requirement.
A .com is cheaper and is what most people type by default. Overstock learned this when it rebranded as O.co in 2011: its CEO said about 8 of every 13 visitors typed O.com instead, and the company backed off. A .co works best when the matching .com is taken and you accept that some visitors will type .com by mistake.
The first year costs from $15.50 at Dynadot, and renewals run from $30.00 a year at Cloudflare to $45.48 at Namecheap. Over 5 years, the longest term the registry allows, a .co costs $140.30 at the cheapest registrar here.
The registry charges registrars far more than a .com costs. It raised the wholesale price from $24 to $26 in April 2025, and Cloudflare, which sells at cost, charges $30.00 today. Cheap first-year offers end at the first renewal.
$30.00 a year at Cloudflare, $31.20 at Porkbun, and up to $45.48 at Namecheap. A renewal can add up to 5 years, but a .co cannot be paid up more than 5 years ahead.
