.cc Domain Price FAQ
Common questions about what a .cc domain costs
The Cocos (Keeling) Islands, a small Australian territory in the Indian Ocean. Despite the country code, .cc works like a generic extension: anyone can register one, and it is often read as "creative commons", "community" or "cloud computing".
IANA lists eNIC Cocos (Keeling) Islands as the manager, and Verisign, the company behind .com and .net, runs the registry. Registrations go through registrars such as Porkbun, Namecheap, Dynadot and Route 53.
The extension is safe to use, but it has a poor abuse record: reported .cc phishing domains roughly tripled in the year to April 2026. Some email filters and security tools are stricter with .cc links and senders, so a business site may get fewer clicks and more spam-folder email than on a .com.
Only the first year is. Registrars sell it from $3.40 to win customers, then charge $8.55 to $13.98 a year to renew. That renewal is close to what a .com costs.
Porkbun has the cheapest renewal at $8.55 a year and $80.35 over 10 years. The cheapest first year is $3.40 at Porkbun, and the cheapest transfer is $8.55 at Porkbun.
